Dr. Welby is a native of Louisville , Kentucky , and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a sports scholarship in swimming. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville and did his orthopaedic residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Welby’s primary interest is in the arthroscopic treatment of injuries of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. A national speaker on several orthopaedic topics, Dr. Welby also served as an instructor for the Orthopaedic Learning Center. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
