FERPA Student Privacy
FERPA Student Privacy Notice. In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, and its implementing regulations at 34 CFR Part 99, this institution protects the privacy of student education records. Students have the right to: (a) inspect and review their education records within forty-five (45) days of submitting a written request; (b) request the amendment of education records that the student believes are inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of their privacy rights; (c) consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student's education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent; and (d) file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the institution to comply with FERPA. The institution may disclose education records without consent to: school officials with legitimate educational interests; other schools to which a student is transferring; specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes; appropriate parties in connection with financial aid; organizations conducting certain studies for or on behalf of the school; accrediting organizations; and in compliance with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena. The institution has designated the following as "directory information" that may be disclosed without consent: student name, address, telephone number, email address, date and place of birth, major field of study, enrollment status, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the most recent educational institution attended.
