How to establish a new ad banner, advertiser and ad zone

Here is my new Text

The Ad Banner Manager controls the advertising areas within your site, as well as the ads and advertisers who want those ads to display.

    1. Within the console, click to the Advertising > Ad Banner Manager module
    2. Click the “Zones” button at the top of the screen
    3. After you are redirected to the zones area, click the “Create New Zone” button
    4. Within the “New Zone” area, type the appropriate title within the “Zone Name” field. This typically should be related to where the ads tagged to this zone will be served on the site
    5. The “Description” field is optional
    6. Click “Save Zone”
    7. Once the zone is saved, click the “Announ.” button at the top of the page.
    8. Click the “Add Announcer” button. Announcers are the equivalent of advertisers
    9. Fill in the appropriate information within the Announcer (advertiser) record. Company, Username, Password, Web site, Contact Name and E-Mail are required
    10. Click the “Save Announcer” button when you are finished inputting the appropriate information
    11. Once the advertiser record is saved, click the “Banners” button
    12. This will redirect you to the form that you will fill out to add an advertisement
    13. Fill out the Banner Name with the appropriate title
    14. Choose the appropriate advertiser from the “Announcer” pull-down menu
    15. Note: To insert a Flash ad, please see our tutorial on managing Flash ads within the Ad Banner Manager. To upload the appropriate image file, choose the “up” arrow. Locate the image from either your network or your local machine. Click “upload”
    16. Skip the “Banner Code” field, and enter the URL to which the image should redirect into the “Link” field
    17. The “Banner Text” field is optional. If you insert text into this field, the text will appear directly below the ad on the front of the site.
    18. Choose the appropriate start and end dates for your banner ad. Take note that the dates are in European format: DD/MM/YYYY
    19. Choose “Active” from the “Status” pull-down menu. Even if the ad is slated to begin sometime in the future, it’s important that its status is Active. Only “Active” ads will appear on the front of the site.
    20. If your organization is keeping track of payment via the Ad Banner Manager, you can choose the payment type from the “Payment Type” pull-down menu. This field, however, is not required.
    21. You can set the number of ad impressions that your advertiser purchased in the “Quantity Purchased” field. CentralPoint will serve the requisite number of impressions, then automatically turn off the banner when the ad reaches that number. If you want to serve the ad an unlimited number of times, type “0” in the “Quantity Purchased” field
    22. The “Cost” field is not required, but it – as the “Payment Type” field – can help you keep track of some accounting measures within the ad banner manager
    23. The “Weight” field tells CentralPoint how often – relative to other banners tied to the same ad zone – to serve the ad. If, for example, you have three ads displaying in the same ad zone, and one of those ads is a “premium” advertiser, you’ll want to give that advertiser a higher weight. Note: It’s a best practice to ensure the total sum of the weights equals 10. This allows CentralPoint to serve the ads based on weight as accurately as possible.
    24. Next, you’ll want to associate the ad banner to the ad zone you created in steps 2 through 7. Choose that zone from the “Zones” multi-select.
    25. Click the “Save Banner” button

You’ve completed the task of creating a new ad zone, new advertiser and new ad banner. Now, the following steps outline how to place an ad zone on the site to ensure that steps 1 through 25 actually display the ads on the front of the site.

      1. Within the Advertising > Ad Banner Manager module, click the “Zones” button
      2. Within the Zones area, you will see at least one zone with a Javascript next to it. Copy that javascript and paste it to a text editor document for future use
      3. Now, click to the Advertising > Advertisers module within the console
      4. Click the “New” button
      5. In the “Title” field, type the appropriate name of this record. Typically, it should related to the zone or area of the site you’ll be serving the ads to. For example, Top Ad Position or Right Ad Position 1.
      6. Skip the publish start, publish end and advertiser name fields
      7. The “Content Type” is important and will dictate where within this record you place the javascript you copied in step 2 above. For purposes of this tutorial, choose “Ad Script”
      8. Then, within the “Ad Script” large text field, paste the javascript that you copied in step 2 above.
      9. Skipping down to the “Ad Position” options, choose the appropriate spot – Top, Bottom, Left or Right – in which your ad will appear.
      10. Next, choose the appropriate “Display Option”. Note: If you choose “Module Specific” or “Section Specific”, you will need to choose an option from the “Site Modules” or “Section” multi-selects below the “Display Option” area for your ad zone to display correctly.
      11. Skipping down to the “Audience Type” and “Site” multi-selects, choose the appropriate audiences and sites on which your ad zone will display.
      12. Then choose the appropriate “Access Level” and “Display Status”. You’ll want to choose “Release” in order to display the ad zone on the front end of the site.
      13. Finally, click the “Submit” button.
